Make sure to support your child with plenty of whole foods and water, especially around the time of their OT session. Often kids can be extra hungry after their OT session because of all the shifts that are happening within their system.
While it can be tempting to reward them with a sweet treat afterward, this can negatively impact the neurological changes we're working on during the session. If you need some alternative ideas for celebration let us know!
Bodywork and movement help the body detox and improve circulation, so keeping your child well-hydrated with water is essential to support the flushing of toxins from their system.
At Foundations, we believe in partnering with you to support your child's progress through their OT program. We want you to understand what we are working on with your child and the reasons behind the specific exercises we're assigning. It's important that you know how their sessions and exercises support their development, so you can help them recognize why creating their own wellness routine is essential.
Just like we encourage our children to brush their teeth or comb their hair, we need to have similar conversations about the importance of their therapy exercises and wellness routines for emotional, physical, and mental health.
